After being in bondage in Egypt for 450 years God raised up Moses, to lead the children of Israel out of Egypt. The twelve sons from Jacob had grown into a multitude of peoples divided into twelve tribes. The thirteenth tribe of Dan was excluded from the inheritance.
Moses led the children into the desert where God called them to be his people and to perform the promises He made to their fathers Abraham, Isaac, Jacob and Joseph. The story is told in several places in the Bible, one that comes to mind is Acts 7: the twelve tribes entered the Promised Land under the leadership of Joshua (which is another name for Jesus) who drove out the Caananites. Following Joshua the Judges ruled over the individual tribes until the Israelites asked God to give them a King over the tribes. God gave them Saul, but the tribes were still not fully united and Saul did evil. Then God through Samuel the Prophet chose the shepherd boy David (from the tribe of Judah) to be king. Nathan the prophet and Zadok the priest anointed David king over a united twelve tribes that became the nation of Israel for the first time (I & II Samuel and I Kings).
Israel became a great nation through King David and even greater through David’s son Solomon, who was also anointed by Zadok and Nathan. At last the wandering twelve tribes had a unity and purpose and grew in strength, riches and blessings. King David wanted to build a house or temple for the Lord God; but God would give the task of building this great temple to his son Solomon (known as Solomon’s Temple in I Kings).
It is interesting to note here that the Coronation services for the anointing of the Kings and Queens of England, for nearly 1,ooo years, contains the words:
‘Be thy head anointed with holy oil, as kings, priests and prophets were anointed: and as Solomon was anointed by Zadok the priest and Nathan the prophet, so be you anointed, blessed and consecrated Queen over the Peoples whom the Lord your God hath given you to rule and govern. In the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Ghost. Amen’.
The Orb is given to her with the injunction ‘when you see this Orb thus set under the Cross, remember that the whole world is subject to the Power and Empire of Christ our Redeemer.’ [1]
In the following we read:
‘Now therefore so shalt thou say unto my servant David, Thus saith the LORD of hosts, I took thee from the sheepcote, from following the sheep, to be ruler over my people, over Israel:’ II Samuel 7:8.
‘And as since the time that I commanded judges to be over my people Israel, and have caused thee o rest from all thine enemies. Also the Lord telleth thee that he will make thee an house. And when thy days be fulfilled, and thou shalt sleep with thy fathers, I will set up thy seed after thee, which shalt proceed out of thy bowels, and I will establish his kingdom. He shall build an house for my name, and I will establish the throne of his kingdom for ever’ II Samuel 7:10-12.
Here is revealed the promise of the Messiah Jesus Christ, to come and reign over the spiritual house of David’s Throne and the building of his spiritual church, which would remain forever. Reading from I Kings 1:32-39:
‘And King David said, Call me Zadok the priest, and Nathan the prophet, and Benaiah the son of Jehoiada. And they came before the king. The king also said unto them, Take with you the servants of your Lord, and cause Solomon my son to ride upon mine own mule, and bring him down to Gihon: And let Zadok the priest and Nathan the prophet anoint him king over Israel: and blow ye with the trumpet, and say, God save King Solomon. Than ye shall come up after him, that he may come and sit upon my throne; for he shall be king in my stead: and I have appointed him to be ruler over Israel and over Judah. And Benaiah the son of Jehoiada answered the king, and said, Amen: the LORD God my lord the king say so too. As the Lord hath been with my Lord the king, even so be he with Solomon, and make his throne greater than the throne of my lord King David… And Zadok the priest took an horn of oil out of the tabernacle, and anointed Solomon. And they blew the trumpet; and all the people said, God save King Solomon’.
These texts show King David passing the Crown to his son Solomon whom God had chosen. David calls for the official anointing to be carried out by God’s prophet Nathan and Zadok the priest once again. Solomon’s throne would be greater than David’s both spiritually and physically according to God’s promise. Now from the tribe of Judah is derived the genealogy of Jesus Christ:
‘The book of the generation of Jesus Christ, the son of David, the son of Abraham. Abraham begat Isaac; and Isaac begat Jacob (ISRAEL); and Jacob begat Judas (JUDAH) and his brethren; And Judas (JUDAH) begat Phares and Zara of Thamar; and Phares [2] begat Esrom; and Esrom begat Aram; And Aram begat Aminadab; and Aminadab begat Naasson; and Naasson begat Salmon; And Salmon begat Booz of Rachab; and Booz begat Obed of Ruth; and Obed begat Jesse; And Jesse begat David the king; and David the king begat Solomon of her that been the wife of Urias’ Matthew 1:1-6.
All these are the descendants of Judah and notice there is no mention of Joseph, only as one of Judah’s brethren. So a definite physical lineage stands out here for the House of Judah. The next verses in this chapter carry through from the lineage of Solomon to Joseph husband of Mary, who gave birth to Jesus Christ.
Turning again to the Old Testament; I Kings 11:11 tells how Solomon turned his heart after other gods and committed abomination before the Lord God. God warns him twice, but Solomon would not heed God’s warnings.
‘Wherefore the LORD said unto Solomon. Foreasmuch as this is done of thee, and thou hast not kept my covenant and my statutes, which I have commanded thee, I will surely rend the kingdom form thee, and will give it to thy servant. Notwithstanding in thy days I will not do it for David thy father’s sake: but I will send it out of the hand of thy son (Rehoboam). Howbeit I will not rend away all the kingdom; but will give one tribe to thy son for David my servant’s sake, and for Jerusalem’s sake which I have chosen’ I Kings 11:11-13.
‘And he said to Jeroboam, Take thee ten pieces: for thus saith the LORD, the God of Israel, Behold, I will rend the kingdom out of the hand of Solomon, and will give ten tribes to thee: (But he shall have one tribe for my servant David’s sake, and for Jerusalem’s sake, the city which I have chosen out of all the tribes of Israel:)’ I Kings 11:31-& 33.
In these texts God tells Solomon that He will break up the kingdom and take ten tribes from his son Rehoboam and that only Judah and the assembled of the tribe of Benjamin would remain the House of David. The lineage of which is recorded in Matthew 1:7-16: from the son of Solomon, Rehoboam, to Joseph the husband of Mary.
History and the Bible record how the division of the two kingdoms, Israel and Judah, occurred in about 922B.C. Then the ten northern tribes, under Rehoboam the son of Solomon, revolted against the United Kingdom. The Kingdom of Israel was destroyed in 722–21 B.C. when Samaria, its capital, was captured by Assyria and the ten northern tribes were carried off into captivity. God placed them in Halah and in Habor, by the river Gorzan and in the cities of the Medes (II Kings 2:17).
The Southern Kingdom of Judah ended in 586 B.C. when the Babylonians conquered it and destroyed Jerusalem the capital. So once again God’s prophecies proved true. The last King over united Israel was King Solomon and then over a period both kingdoms were taken into captivity. King Josiah ruled the Kingdom of Judah. The rightful heir to the Throne of David was Jehoiachin whose mother was Nehushta, the daughter of Elnathan of the House of Judah in Jerusalem. King Nebuchadnezzar made Zedekiah (Matthaniah) king instead of Josiah’s grandson Coniah (son of Jehoiakim). Zedekiah prince of evil (Ezekiel 21) was taken captive by the king of Babylon where he was killed. His two sons were also killed. Zedekiah’s daughters fled to Egypt with the captain of the guard Nebuzar-adan, they also took with them the Prophet Jeremiah and the Stone of Scone. They later left Taphanes, Egypt, for Spain and then on to Ireland (Jeremiah 43 & 44). The Celtic kings (Zarah line) of Ireland and Scotland stole the Stone of Scone otherwise known as Jacob’s pillar stone (Ezekiel 21). The stone would be overturn three times. The rightful king Edward I in 1296 captured the Stone of Scone and placed it in Westminster Abbey.
Jehoiachin who was taken captive to Babylon was the rightful descendant from the Pharez line. King Cyrus of Persia made the decree to release the Jews from captivity to rebuild the Temple in 537 B.C. (Ezra and Nehemiah). The descendant of King Jehoiachin was Zerubbabel, the lineage of Jesus Christ. From the re-building of the Temple in 537 B.C. until the Messiah came was 483 years. Seven years are left at the end of history to fulfill the prophecy of 490 years (Ezra 1:1-2).
Then the lion from the tribe of Judah, Jesus Christ, from the lineage of the House of David came into the city of Jerusalem riding on an ass, as prophesied in Zechariah 9:9. He was proclaimed as the Son of David and who claimed his right to the Throne of David, fulfilling prophecy, as he was the promised messiah to come, the spiritual stone from Jacob and the promised physical king to reign over Israel. Now Jesus was born in Bethlehem, southern Judah, and then grew up as the carpenter’s son in the northern kingdom of Israel, becoming a Nazarene or the man from Galilee. He prophesied and healed in both kingdoms, but had a far wider teaching program in the north.
Taking Jesus’ ministry into account sets the plan in motion for the spiritual and physical House of Israel. The tribes of Joseph, Ephraim and Manasseh, being northern tribes, would give out the message of salvation to the rest of the tribes and gentile nations. Whereas Judah would retain the Throne of David but it would be set in Joseph (England). As prophesied by Jesus Christ the Romans destroyed the last temple of the Jews in 70 A.D. Historically and biblically this account stands written. From this time the Jews, or tribe of Judah, were in captivity again and wandering the earth and having no king, no nation and no temple for two thousand years.
As the last chapter stated, God’s sanctuary (Church and Throne) would be in the midst of Israel and promised in Joseph’s seed. The tribe of Judah now has the land of Israel, it was made the State of Israel in 1948, the prophesied re-gathering of the Jews the tribe of Judah fulfilled (Ezekiel 38:8).
All God’s promises to Abraham, Isaac, Israel and Joseph, Ephraim and Manasseh have been fulfilled. A trickle of Jews have come into the church throughout the centuries, but at the end time the House of Judah will be cleansed and God’s spirit poured on the House of David and they too will know their Saviour Jesus Christ, the Lord.
And then the two houses of the Lord, Israel and Judah, shall be one completely with the shepherd, with Jesus Christ, as King and He will reign over the one flock. It is important to get understanding in Jeremiah, so read this book through a few times. Jeremiah the Prophet saw the fall of Judah and destruction of Jerusalem in 586 B.C. At this time both houses were cast off into captivity, but he preached that God would make a new covenant with the House of Israel and the House of Judah and that he would write it on the hearts of individuals, the calling by faith into the eternal church (Jeremiah 31 and Ezekiel 37:15-17).
Jeremiah 30 tells of these wonderful blessings to come, with the children of God, Israel, coming out of captivity.
‘Therefore fear thou not, O my servant Jacob, saith the LORD; neither be dismayed, O Israel: for, lo, I will save thee from afar, and thy seed from the land of their captivity; and Jacob shall return, and shall be in rest, and be quiet, and none shall make him afraid’ Jeremiah 30:10.
And again in Jeremiah chapter 31 God promises to re-gather his people Israel and perform the prophecy to Joseph. The next inheritor and physical king from the lineage of Judah and the House of David and Solomon was Alfred the Great 871–901 A.D. His grand son Edmond the Elder 940-956 A.D. was king of the first united England.
The promise to Abraham, Isaac, Jacob (Israel) and Joseph (carried on the name Israel), was now in motion to put God’s sanctuary in the midst of Israel. Further down in the English line of succession of Monarchs, Edward I (1272–1307 A.D.) took the ‘Stone of Scone’ or Jacob’s Stone, the physical stone from Scotland. The prophecy stated a Stuart King would rule in England (The Prophetical Verse of King Kenneath of Scotland engraved upon the Stone ‘Should fate not fail, where’re this stone is found, The Scots shall monarch of that realm be crowned’). The Stuart King who fulfilled the prophecy was James VI of Scotland, who became James I of England, the first dedicated Protestant king. He also believed in the Divine Right of Kings meaning the Throne is only established by God and not by men.
Since its capture in 1296 A.D. the ‘Stone of Scone’ or Jacob’s Stone was placed under Edward’s Crowning Chair of the Monarchs of England, in Westminster Abbey. There are not very many books on this subject around, but God has filled in the gaps, with his revelation and his Holy Word. With the evil seed of Satan trying to destroy the line of the Monarchs of England, the flesh and spiritual battles have raged. Do some of your own research on the Crown Jewels of England, the Monarchs and the coronation ceremony. I have listed a few of these jewels for your interest:
- the Crown of St Edward;
- the Sceptre with the cross (signifying the law of God and Christ will not depart);
- the Sceptre with the dove (symbolizing the Holy Ghost);
- the Sword of the State;
- the Sword of Justice;
- the Sword of Temporal Justice;
- the Sword of Mercy (Curtana)) which has a broken blade to symbolize mercy;
- the Ampulla an eagle shaped container for the anointing oil;
- the Sovereign’s Orb that is set under the cross as a reminder that the whole world is subject to the power and empire of Christ our Redeemer;
- the Sovereign’s ring ensign of kingly dignity and of defence of the Catholic Faith (or Universal faith in Christ).
The Monarch at the Crowning is given a Bible from the Archbishop, as the most valuable thing the world affords (KJV).
I believe with God’s grace, I have established the lineage of the peoples of Israel. Christians in pre-millennial doctrine need to study these two chapters thoroughly and with a King James Bible and ask God to lead them in the Holy Spirit to understand.
‘Simeon hath declared how God at the first did visit the Gentiles, to take out of them a people for his name. And to this agree the words of the prophets; as it is written, After this I will return, and will build again the tabernacle of David, which is fallen down; and I will build again the ruins thereof, and I will set it up: That the residue of men might seek after the Lord, and all the Gentiles, upon whom my name is called, saith the Lord, who doeth these things. Known unto God are all his works from the beginning of the world’ Acts 15:14-18.
The Crown, Throne and Church of England became Solomon’s House and Temple. David’s Throne ruled over the British Empire and Commonwealth of Nations fulfilling the promise by God of the greater House of Solomon.
